If you’re a diehard Krunker competitive player, you’ve most likely spent countless hours fighting it out on maps like Sandstorm, Undergrowth, but also maps like Site, Bureau, Lumber, Industry and Shipment. These maps, especially the first two, have been the cornerstone of Krunker’s competitive scene, offering intense, fast gameplay combined with well-balanced layouts. But we have to be real for a second: aren’t we a bit tired playing the same maps every single year?
As much as the community loves these maps, the competitive experience needs something fresh, something new—a map that revitalizes the gameplay and gives us a refreshing new challenge. Enter Lush, a map that was created in 2023 by the well-known caster, OG comp player and Bureau creator, ‘tjwysk.’ This map promises to bring a vibrant aesthetic and dynamic gameplay to the table. Here’s why we’re in desperate need of a map like Lush and how it could revolutionize our beloved scene for the next few years.
The Need for a New Competitive Map
Krunker competitive thrives on its community and fast-paced gameplay, but even the best games can fall into a routine. A new competitive map like ‘Lush’ could re-energize the scene in three major ways:
• Breaking the Monotony
Cycling through the same maps every season gets very repetitive. Even the best-designed and well-loved maps lose their magic when played too often. A new map would certainly inject excitement into the scene by giving players something fresh to master.
• Boosting Gameplay Depth
As we all know, each maps brings its own unique strategies, and Lush could add another layer of tactical gameplay. With it’s varied environment—open spaces, chokepoints and vertical zones—it encourages different playstyles and clever decision-making which we are not yet fully familiar with.
• Encouraging Competitive growth
A new map, like Lush, would level the playing field for most of the players. Whether you’re a recurring tournament winner or a newer player, learning a new map from scratch creates an opportunity for everyone to develop the needed game sense in a fair and even setting.
What Makes Lush Unique?
So, what sets this ‘Lush’ map apart from the current roster of competitive maps?
• Aesthetic Appeal
Unlike the more simple map designs like Sandstorm and Undergrowth, Lush introduces a vibrant jungle-esque environment. Rocks, thick foliage, a temple and so much more make this map stand out in comparison to the other already known maps.
• Balanced Gameplay
Lush strikes a perfect balance between some longer-range engagements but also close-quarter encounters. Sniper and Semi-auto players can claim good angles, while SMG and AK players will thrive in the chokepoints and tight paths.
Let’s Bring Lush to Comp Host!
As someone who has followed the development of this map and advocated for its addition to the map pool for over a year, I can say with certainty that it will be a welcome addition to break the growing staleness of the current selection of maps. With its fun and vibrant jungle setting, strategic layout and engaging features, I believe that it’s worthy of a try in the competitive scene. It’s time we move beyond Sandstorm and others and re-imagine our current map pool with some new additions.
